The metalworking industry is one of the sectors that generates the highest number of jobs in Latin American countries and in Peru it is the sector that has generated about 355 thousand jobs in 2017, basically it is the sector that has the highest dynamism. Therefore, the metalworking industry is essential to use tools that optimize processes for greater productivity, these tools allow to analyze problems and causes that generate a bad application in production processes. Based on the above, the objective of this systematic review is to identify which optimization tools are applied in the improvement of production processes in the metalworking industry? In response to this question, 30 degree theses from the universities of Peru and Latin America were selected using the Google Academic Database and Virtual Library search tool of CONCYTEC, which these selected investigations met the parameters established in the methodology . It is concluded that the most used process optimization tools were the 5 “S” with a percentage of 16% followed by a travel diagram with a percentage of 13%. As for the limitations that were found in the search for information were language, irrelevant information, lack of authorship.
