The presence of cadmium in soils with cocoa crops affects the state of the plant, as it is a crop that hyperaccumulates heavy metals, which consequently harms the quality and export of cocoa. For this reason, the purpose of the study is to compare cadmium levels in Theobroma cacao L. crops at different phenological stages in Nauta-Loreto. For this, the selected plot was delimited into four areas, where each area corresponds to a phenological stage, then three sampling points were chosen for each stage and 20 subsamples were made by the zigzag pattern at each point to obtain composite samples. Also, 10 trees were chosen and four leaves were cut from each one to obtain leaf samples of 40 leaves per area. After analyzing the samples, it was determined that the highest value of cadmium in soils was in the flower bud stage with 0.77 ppm, this means that the other stages did not exceed the cadmium limit established in the ECA for soils, and may be due to the lack of fertilizer use in the study area, which explains these low cadmium values; however, in the foliar samples, the highest concentration of cadmium was in the fruiting stage with 1.04 ppm, they also present significant differences, and all this due to multiple factors that influence the absorption and transport of the metal by the plant. Therefore, it is concluded, through Pearson's correlation, that there is no significant correlation between cadmium in soils and cadmium in cocoa leaves.
