ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the physical - mechanical properties of the bricks. It was taken as reference standards NTP 399 604 “Masonry Units“ NTP 399 613 “Methods of sampling and testing of clay bricks used in masonry“ and NTP 399,601 “bricks concrete requirements.“ PVC is used as a replacement for traditional thick added to the mix design of concrete bricks was based on the ICA method, the proportions by weight of the mixture including 50 to 100 percent crushed PVC. The main motivation of this study is comparing the physical - mechanical properties of concrete bricks and bricks recycled PVC. It starts with the theoretical description of the classification and properties of PVC and concrete bricks, then the tests to which the bricks will be submitted to verify their properties are described. The definition of materials, equipment, procedures, trial calculations, dimension measurement, warping, suction, absorption, compressive strength and bending strength is also described. Tests for sieve analysis, moisture content, specific gravity, unit weight and absorption of fine and coarse aggregates extracted from the strong Rock quarry located in the Chonta River is also detailed. The elaboration of concrete bricks were made in concrete technology laboratory checking the quality control of concrete in fresh state, according to the provisions of NTP 339 046 standard unit weight of the concrete and measuring NTP 399,035 settlement. Finally, tests were performed to determine the physical - mechanical properties of the bricks, which concluded that the physical - mechanical properties increase, adding crushed PVC, with the exception of the compressive strength.
