ABSTRACT The main objective of this work was to determine the structural behavior of the flexible pavement in the Cajamarca - Sur avoidance route, using the deflections measured with the Benkelman beam. The road under study corresponds to a first class motorway (IMDS = 9465 Veh / day) type I, and belongs to the national road network (Route 3N). This research consisted in a progressive development of different stages that starts from the recognition, topographic survey, transit study, measurement of the deflections, to the processing of the data obtained in the field, correlations and analysis of the results that allow to determine the structure behavior of the pavement. The pavement evaluated was constructed in 2002 and consists of a tread of 3.5 “, a granular base of 15 cm and a granular sub-base of 20 cm. The sub-cultivation has been improved with a layer of granular material with a thickness not inferior to 80 cm and a CBR For the evaluation of the structural capacity of the pavement, deflections were measured every 50 meters, according to the procedure indicated by MTC E102-2000 “Measurement of deflection and determination of radius of curvature of a flexible pavement using the Benkelman beam, “using a Benkelman double girder, a tipper whose rear axle had a weight of 8.2 tons, tires with an inflation pressure of 80 PSI. With the deviations obtained, the evaluation of the pavement was performed through the CONREVIAL method, obtaining a characteristic deflection of 125 x 10-2 mm, greater than the permissible deflection of 77 x 10-2 mm and a mean radius of curvature of 589.93 mm, the higher the minimum using the indicated method (100 mm), concluded that the pavement does not present adequate structural behavior.
