This research explores the various characteristics of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), neuropsychiatric problems that alter abilities and make non-verbal communication difficult for the person suffering from it. Proposing a design for an interactive toy “JIDHS“ that contributes to the development of social emotional skills in preschool children (3 to 6 years) with ASD, through play as a learning method. In this way, the toy becomes a reinforcement of the treatments carried out by the infant, contributing from an early age to a better interaction with their environment, a favorable medical prognosis and decreasing the probability of comorbidity. This research is of pre-experimental design with a mixed approach, applying the “Design Thinking” methodology. The toy went through an expert review, receiving good comments and recommendations to add more accessories. Also various interviews with parents with minors with ASD who provided their experiences and had good opinions. In turn, the toy was used in small sessions with minors with ASD, observing an interest in interacting on the part of the minor and imitating the poses of “JIDHS“. The observations collected by the guardians, experts and the interaction between the child and the toy, determined to vary the design and add specific accessories. It would be ideal to limit accessories and individual use by 3-year-olds due to excess stimulants. Continue conducting tests on minors as the health situation allows.
