The COVID 19 disease has generated a global pandemic, brought changes to many people, which caused a feeling of fear and uncertainty. University students had to adapt to new changes such as virtual classes and the lack of social contact, among other aspects, generated an increase in the level of distress. The objective of this research is to determine the levels of peri-traumatic distress in students of a private university in metropolitan Lima in the context of COVID 19. It is a quantitative descriptive research with a cross-sectional design, it has a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience and uses the snowball method. A sample of 206 university students from different academic semesters was used. To carry out the research, the Peri-traumatic Distress Index related to coronavirus disease (CPDI) was used, which was translated, adapted and validated by Pedraz et al. (2020) for use in Peru. It was obtained as a result that 59.7% of students present peri-traumatic distress in the context of COVID 19.
