This research work was carried out in a company dedicated to the production (tanning of bovine and sheep skins) and sale of hides in the city of Trujillo, which aims to diagnose and solve the problems it is experiencing. The general objective is to reduce the high operating costs of the production area with the improvement proposal applying 5'S, TPM and plant redistribution. First, a general diagnosis of the current situation of the production area was made, through an Ishikawa Diagram, in which the root causes were identified as a poor distribution of machinery and work areas, lack of methodologies to reduce travel, inadequate working environment and the lack of signaling, coding, ordering and cleaning, since tools, waste, products in processes and things that have nothing to do with the production process are observed in all the areas pulled by Various spaces, production stops due to machinery failures are recurring, which are the cause of the high operating costs, being these. After identifying the causes that generate the high operating costs, we proceeded to calculate their respective costs (monetization of the root causes) of each one of them, to evaluate the economic impact that they generate on the company, so that consequently we proceed to develop the improvement proposal to mitigate the negative impact they cause to the organization, for the improvement proposal it was determined that an investment is required total, of 23 162,88 soles, which will recover in 3 years. Lastly, an economic analysis was performed, which served to corroborate that the study carried out is viable for the company, since a NPV of S/54 149,51 soles, an IRR of 79,38% and a B/C were obtained of S/1,64 soles, that is, for each sun invested, you earn 0.64 soles; reason why it is concluded that this proposal is feasible and profitable for the company under study.
