ABSTRACT There is now a steady increase in energy consumption at all levels (individuals, companies, industries, etc.), modernization of industrial processes and economic growth are the main causes of this phenomenon and employment also of new technology and new instruments or modern elements. Given this reality, it is inherent in the efficient use of this resource (energy) and today becomes a priority in order to preserve energy resources and establish appropriate changes aimed at sustainable development in harmony with the environment. Today, the industrial sector is constituted with the potential consumer of electricity for the numerous activities and operations carried out for production; however many of its facilities do not have adequate control and energy use. This is indicated by lighting systems, in our case, we analyze a manufacturer of centrifugal pumps, this company has identified numerous shortcomings around its use being the most critical to keep lit the lamps during non-productive periods, which leads to increased energy consumption and economic impact for the company and for the world environment. In this project improves the design detailing an automation system for the lighting system of the ship cast a manufacturer of centrifugal pumps located in Lima, that optimizes the use of power preventing lamps (luminaires ) remain on during non-productive periods. That is, the lighting automation to ensure quality lighting during the time necessary be designed, this effect is also reflected in the reduction of cost by paying monthly electricity bills. The industrial plant that will be taken as a model for the design, is a company in the metallurgical industry, specializing in the manufacture of centrifugal pumps; the company promotes through its environmental policy the care and protection thereof; It is why the development of this improvement is supported by the company that is constantly concerned with developing ideas that contribute to the process of continuous improvement.
