ABSTRACT The objective of the present investigation was to establish the relationship between the stress and job satisfaction variables in health personnel of a public institution Cajamarca, by means of a descriptive study of correlational and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 55 people to whom two surveys were applied a) Scale of work stressors in health personnel of Gray - Toft & James G. Anderson with a reliability in Cronbach 's alpha of 0.92 and b) Satisfaction scale of Sonia Palma Carrillo, which has a validity of 0.05. and the reliability obtained is 0.79. After the collection, the data were processed with the statistical package SPSS by means of the statistical test of Pearson's correlation coefficient, subsequently tabulated and presented in statistical graphs. The findings obtained the following results: the significance of the normality test is .200 for the labor satisfaction variable and .059 for the stress variable, both higher than .05, so the null hypothesis that there is a distribution is accepted of the data. It is concluded that there is a significant relationship between the level of stress and job satisfaction in the health personnel of a public establishment, since at a lower level of stress, greater job satisfaction and vice versa. Likewise, a significant correlation was found between the dimensions of job satisfaction: administrative policies and performance of tasks with the stress variable, given that the significance obtained in the first is .013 and .023 in the second. On the other hand, in the dimensions of job satisfaction: physical and / or material conditions, labor and / or remunerative benefits, social relations, personal development and relationship with authority with the stress variable, a non-significant correlation was determined, given that the significance obtained is greater than .05.
