Currently there are many companies (mining, oil, gas, refineries) that use a large number of transport pipes for hazardous solutions. Within the mining industry these pipelines transport cyanide solutions, which must be inspected with certain regularity to ensure their good condition. The inspections offer favorable results, indicating that the pipes are in good condition; nevertheless, in order to avoid leaks and at the same time avoid spills of cyanide solution towards the environment, it is proposed to use an alternative technique of magnetostructive guided waveguide inspection, which allows to obtain a 100% inspection of these pipes without affecting either physically or chemically to the pipes; this technique allows to determine the location of low thickness areas, contacts with pipe supports, cords, flanges in addition to their extension thereof; and with conventional ultrasound thickness measurements will be taken at the indicated points; With the data provided we will calculate the remaining life, corrosion rate of the transport pipes of pulp. That is why this thesis is focused on identifying the influence of the guided magnetostructive waves technique in the prevention of environmental aspects, which will be carried out in pulp transport pipes. This investigation showed that the magnetostructive guided wave technique is a viable alternative for the inspection of pipes, since thanks to its advantages it allows calculating the useful life time, faults and or discontinuities present in them; in this way we demonstrate that this inspection gives us real results of the conditions of the pipes and therefore avoid aspects to the environment.
