ABSTRACT The main objective of this research was to apply method engineering to improve the wood pallet manufacturing process to increase productivity in the company Manufacturas y Procesos Integrados EIRL. Firstly, the customer who generated the most revenue from the company was identified and it became evident that the delivery times of wooden pallets had in some cases, days of delays. Thus, to recognize the causes of low productivity in the manufacture of wooden pallets, the Ishikawa diagram was used. Then, using the Pareto diagram, each of the identified causes was analyzed in detail. To begin the process of improvement, the current process was diagnosed in the manufacture of wood pallets, identifying first the distribution of the plant. After this diagnosis, the process operations diagram (DOP) was performed, followed by the process diagram of the wood pallet manufacturing process, concluding with the process activity diagram (DAP). Then, based on the study of methods and the use of the time study, a new path diagram was proposed, using a specific wood species for the process, opting for Bolaina wood, being a more ductile wood for the processes cutting. Finally, a new work station was established, based on a circular saw cutting machine, which allowed to reduce the times in the wood brushing process. In addition, internal transport machines, Stokas or hydraulic trucks, were required, coupled with the use of a portable machine, automatic nailer, necessary to carry out the new activity diagram. The determination of the cost benefit of the improvement was made using the technique of return of investment (ROI), which determined a value of 40.53%, with a recovery to 2.5 years, which supports the execution of the implemented. Designed to improve the process of manufacturing wooden pallets in the company Manufacturas y Procesos Integrados EIRL, it was possible to reduce and shorten the paths of the manufacturing processes of pallets taking into account the times of each activity and at the same time the elements which conform it, in this way the operating times were optimized. We obtained a reduction of a unit cost of 4.06 soles to 2.76 soles per pallet produced, reducing to 1.30 per pallet as a unit cost that represents in percentage terms a reduction of 32%. Thus, the current evolution of productivity that fluctuates between 1.34 and 1.63, so it can be concluded that the improvements implemented had a positive effect.
