ABSTRACT This research study called Chinese footwear imports and its impact on the production enterprises of the program “Compras a MYPERU“, taking as the baseline the period 2011-2013, aims to demonstrate the impact of imports of Chinese footwear local production of La Libertad. This study aims to propose an alternative for counteracting the decline in domestic footwear production and the increasing supply of imported footwear from China, which today represents the main problem for entrepreneurs in the region La Libertad. We proceeded to analyze the production footwear sector in La Libertad taking as segment of analysis, the program providers “Compras a MYPERU“, as well as the current status of the production of footwear companies that participated in the program, also, we analyzed Chinese footwear imports during the period 2011-2013, in order to propose an action plan to improve the local footwear and lessen the impact of imports. Finally, it was concluded that the companies that participated in the program “Compras a MYPERU“, in La Libertad during the period 2011-2013, were negatively affected in their production and sales due to the entry of Chinese footwear, shortage of skilled labor and increasing the price of domestic leather, etc., which is why, according to experts interviewed reaffirm, you should take various contingency measures to counter this impact and protect the domestic industry. These measures require the participation of the various actors involved in the problem, in order to improve the declining trend in footwear production in La Libertad.
