The present research study was oriented to the design and implementation of maintenance strategies focused on the life cycle of the CAT 793C truck fleet and its relationship with the global costs in open pit mining, for which focused maintenance strategies were established. To improve the life cycle and optimize the cost of the truck fleet in open-pit mining. This research is of applied and explanatory type, which aimed to determine the relationship between strategies and global costs in the area of maintenance having used for this three methods of study such as: The analysis of the global costs, implementation process of the maintenance strategies and the analytical method obtaining as results that the highest overall costs are concentrated in the system of “Structure and Chassis “Of the equipment in $ 7.075 M, and having in some months significant variations of operational availability being below budget. The Change of Chassis strategy was defined by the preventive maintenance of the critical equipment selected through the priority matrix where the benefits of the implementation of the strategies were demonstrated and how they allow to effectively reduce the annual global costs up to 56% as well as the increase in production hours of up to 98 annual hours, which represents an increase in operational availability in the CAT 793C mining trucks, obtaining a NPV of $ 2 401 237.00 and an IRR of 24%, which justifies the economic feasibility of the project analyzed.
