The main goal of this architectural project and research was to design an All Round Education Center for the Visually Impaired in Trujillo, since the city doesn’t have an educational facility specially designed for them where they can receive formal learning and acquire skills to find jobs and insert themselves successfully in society. People with visual impairment have special accessibility requirements that respond to the way they communicate with their surroundings and environment, which is through the senses of touch, hearing and smell. Therefore, the main goal of this project is to determine how the Sensory Experiences of Architecture can influence Accessibility, in the design of an All Round Education Center for the Visually Impaired in Trujillo. The research began with the analysis of literature and background information to propose a theoretical framework relevant to the project. In this case, the main topics were: Accessibility for the Visually Impaired and how Architecture is perceived with the senses. As a result of the analysis, indicators were established to evaluate if the variables are applied or not in contemporary architecture. This analysis was summarized though operationalization chart. For the next stage, six case studies were chosen to verify if these indicators were being applied in real projects and to verify the influence of the variables on the design Finally, the indicators that were present on the case studies, become the design guidelines for the project, and they were used as follows: The tactile sensory stimulus, can guide paths and transmit information about the space. The auditory sensory stimulus, allow the user to acknowledge the of the space and the proximity of the elements in it. The olfactory sensory stimulus, can serve as space identifiers when the user can connect a smell to a specific location.
