ABSTRACT The present study was conducted in the maintenance area of a mining company in the department of Cajamarca. Its main objective was the design of a predictive maintenance management system and its relationship with the mechanical availability of the Hitachi 2500 excavators. Initially, it was carried out the diagnosis to the maintenance system with which the company worked during the first semester of the year 2018, in which it is observed that there are three main problems that generate the greatest number of unscheduled stops within the operation of the excavators. Being considered the systems: hydraulic, lubrication and lane. After analyzing and evaluating the causes that generate the low mechanical availability of the excavators, a predictive maintenance management system was designed to improve the mechanical availability, which is 83.7% on average and with the possible application of the maintenance management design mechanical availability will improve to 90%, in terms of maintenance rates such as MTBFS (average time between failures) with an initial value of 40 hours and after the possible application rises to 59.89 hours ; that is, the average time between failures is improved by 19.89 hours. The MTBS (average time between stops) with an initial of 35 hours and that with the possible application goes up to 49.84 hours; that is, the average time between stops is improved by 14.84 hours. The MTTR (average time to repair) with an initial of 7.93 hours and that with the possible application with 6.65 hours; that is, the average time to repair at 1.28 hours is reduced. The evaluation of Cost-Benefit, came out positive, with a value of 1,399. It is concluded that having a design of a predictive maintenance management system improves the mechanical availability of the excavators, likewise reduces the constant stops no programs and thus increases the profitability of the company.
