The objective of this research is to determine the relationship between the aesthetic model of thinness and dissatisfaction with body image in female students of psychology at a university in Lima. The methodology used is quantitative, non-experimental design, cross-sectional and correlational. The study sample consisted of 315 female students of Psychology from the last three cycles; likewise, the type of sampling was non-probabilistic by convenience. This type of sampling considers the accessibility and willingness of the participants (Battaglia, 2008). The survey was used as a method of data collection and the “Body Shape Questionnaire“ and the “Questionnaire of Influences of the Aesthetic Body Model“ were applied as instruments. The results show the existence of a significant correlation (p = 0.00), very strong positive (0.881) and a direct relationship between the variables; this means that a higher level of dissatisfaction with body image is related to a higher level of the aesthetic model of thinness; in addition, significant correlations were found between dissatisfaction with body image and the dimensions of the aesthetic model of thinness. It was concluded that there is a significant correlation between variables.
