ABSTRACT In this work, the type of machinery involved in earthmoving work, indicating in each case the aspects that should be considered in a machine to work with a particular material is explained. For earthworks, machinery is detailed so that the focus of its functionality is only applied to the type of material involved, naming the constraints and characteristics that affect the choice of it, depending on the properties of soil in which they work. The objective of the research was to obtain real returns earthmoving using heavy machinery for activities: carguío bulldozer, push crawler tractor, loading front loader, dump trucks hauling with 15 m3 and profiling with grader. The actual yields obtained were compared with the yields given by the manufacturer, identifying own adversities as a mining project are: bad weather, mechanical failures, etc. From this comparison it has been determined that the actual yields are lower than those indicated by the manufacturer. This information may be facing a labor estimating yields for earthworks in addition to addressing those problems in an efficient and easy way to manage, finally getting to model the most representative cases. Concluding that will be a great tool for those engineers who are initiated in the area of construction involving major earthworks.
