In this Professional Sufficiency Work (TSP), a dispersion analysis of the potential unpleasant odors coming from a Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTPs), to be built as part of the Urban Habitation (HU)2 carried out by a real estate company, was elaborated. The analysis consisted of modeling the dispersion of the predominant and representative gas of this type of plant, the odorant gas hydrogen sulfide (H2 S). The dispersion model used was the Gaussian Plume and the modeling was performed in ArcGIS 10.8; the results were captured in a thematic map that allowed visualizing the spatial evolution of the H2 S, and the direction in which the potential significant impacts on the receptors affected by odorous contamination are directed. The modeling provided the necessary information to develop a plan to control the negative impacts that could be generated by odors from this treatment system. The measures proposed in the Plan consisted of preventive and mitigation measures for both the design and operation stages, which were designed according to the economic capacity of the WWTPs´s final manager. Preventive measures focused on design features and operational measures to help prevent the generation of odors. On the other hand, the mitigation measure focused on the design of a living barrier surrounding WWTPs in order to reduce the negative impacts of unpleasant odors that could be generated by operational contingencies and uncontrolled external factors.
