The main objetive of this work is to improve the seismic performance of a clinic built with reinforced concrete, located in the city of Arequipa. To improve this performance, Buckling Restrained Braces (BRBs) will be used and it will be corroborated, through a nonlinear Pushover analysis, taking into account rare, very rare and maximum earthquakes. To achieve this objective, the considerations taken for the modeling and structural analysis of the building, carried out in the Etabs program, for both the linear and non-linear parts, are shown for both the base structure and with BRBs. In addition, the results obtained from the linear part are presented as fundamental periods, shear forces of mezzanines and the verification of mezzanine drifts required by standard; and the non-linear part, such as obtaining the capacity curve and seismic performance point, considering the FEMA 440 capacity spectrum method. On the other hand, it shows how the design of the BRBs was carried out, the considerations that were taken and the properties of the steel to be used, according to the technical sheet of the Core Brace manufacturer. Likewise, the properties to be placed, how they will be modeled and where they will be placed, in the Etabs program. Finally, the comparison of results of both modeling is shown, the percentage of improvement with respect to the base structure and the improvement in the level of performance according to what is proposed by VISION 2000. The conclusions and recommendations when using BRBs in the building are presented.
