This Professional Proficiency Work focuses on optimizing the operational processes of a metalworking company in Peru, highlighting the detection of defects through Statistical Process Control (SPC) and the Poka Yoke tool to correct variabilities. The effectiveness of this method was proven during the study. First, nonconformities in the production of diamond products were analyzed, finding that 50.26% of the failures occurred in the graphite area. Data was collected about the graphite process and its history of non-conformities, identifying measurement errors in the graphite pieces that generate water paths in the diamond product. Then, SPC techniques were applied in order to detect any variation or deviation in the process that may affect the quality of the by-product, which allows us to apply corrective measures through the use of Poka Yoke to achieve the correct measurements of the graphite pieces that generate waterways. The results, validated through simulations, showed a significant reduction in non-conformities, reducing defective parts, reducing rework costs and improving the quality of the final product. The implementation of SPC allowed for early detection of problems and the use of Poka Yoke provided corrective measures. In conclusion, the study demonstrates that the application of SPC and Poka Yoke in the metalworking company in Lima, Peru, was effective in improving operational processes, significantly reducing non-conformities and improving production quality and efficiency.
