In the dynamic context of the Trujillo leather footwear sector, crucial links are verified between established rules and the perpetuity of companies in this specific industry. Therefore, the objective was set: To determine the influence of formal business rules on intergenerational continuity in the leather footwear sector in Trujillo, 2023. The methodology employed was quantitative, following a basic typology that considered a cross-sectional correlational scope; regarding the sample, 40 companies from the leather footwear sector in Trujillo were considered, to whom two questionnaires measuring the study variables were applied. The results indicated that there is an influence of the formal business rules variable on intergenerational continuity explained by 46.9% with a p-value of 0.000; additionally, influence was verified in the creator role dimension expressed by 31.6% with a p-value of 0.000, in the successor dimension manifested by 18.8% with a p-value of 0.005, in the relationship dimension projected by 38.5% with a p-value of 0.000, and in the organization dimension presented by 25.6% with a p-value of 0.001. It was concluded that there is a clear influence of the independent variable on the dependent one; therefore, the greater the optimization of formal business rules, a higher level of intergenerational continuity can be perceived, ensuring the sustainability of the footwear business located in Trujillo.
