Innovation, as well as investment in infrastructure and human capital, is one of the factors that significantly impacts the economic development of a country. This variable is characterized by various aspects that a country may be developing, such as efforts in Information and Communications Technology, Skills acquired in quality jobs, people's years of schooling, Research and Development (R&D), Industrial Activity and Access to Financing aimed at the development of innovation. In Latin American countries, efforts are often not specifically directed at each of these variables, which can positively impact GDP. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the relation between the determinants of innovation and the GDP of Latin American countries that are leaders in innovation within the region. To carry out the study, information was extracted from UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), which was modeled through the Panel Data model and, through econometric tests and corrections, a final model was reached, which shows the impact of each variable on the GDP of Latin American countries. Finally, a government policy recommendation is provided on where innovation efforts in Latin American economies should be directed to achieve better economic development.
