The present study aims to understand the relationship between convenience, value, declarations of health properties, natural ingredients, and purchasing behavior of dog food. The target audience consists of individuals aged 18 to 55 in Metropolitan Lima who are dog owners. The increasing trend of humanizing pets is the main reason behind owners' consistent concern for having healthy and beneficial products for their pets' health. This is because people consider their dogs as family members and strive to provide them with the best quality of life regardless of cost. The pandemic has also significantly fueled this trend, as people spent more time with their pets and their associated expenses increased despite ongoing uncertainty. As a result, pet owners began identifying the primary needs of their companions during different life stages, making their purchasing decisions more complex and information-intensive to ensure the best choices for their pets' health. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between dog food characteristics and owners' purchasing behavior. For the analytical part of the study, a sample of 346 individuals who met the specified criteria was defined. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire using Google Forms. In general, it was concluded that there is a relationship between all variables, with natural ingredients and declarations of health properties being the most significant. Given the growing trend in the pet food industry, there is an opportunity to further analyze these variables through market studies. This aims to gather relevant information for existing and emerging brands in the market, enabling them to develop products that align with consumer needs, prioritizing pet health and well-being.
