The textile and clothing industry is one of the most prominent in the manufacturing sector in Peru. It represents 1.6% of the national GDP. In 2023, its contribution to the GDP was 0.5%. However, there are various problems affecting the industry, such as delays in delivery times, poor product quality, and low efficiency. Regarding production efficiency, the national average is 50.3%, a figure that ranks among the lowest globally. Given the competitive nature of the fashion industry, companies that focus on clothing production and distribution must optimize their operations to remain competitive. This work will analyze a company specializing in garment production, boasting a production efficiency rate of 46.85%, a low indicator compared to the national average. To attain this objective, a comprehensive review of the company's data was conducted to elucidate the underlying causes of the low efficiency. Subsequent to the assessment, it was ascertained that the reasons were rework in product development and delays in the cutting area, which was leading to tardy shipments to clients. In order to enhance operational efficiency, the decision was made to adopt Lean Manufacturing. This methodology has various tools that allow for efficiency improvement with few resources. For this case, the chosen methodologies were 5S and Poka-Yoke. Finally, the findings of the implementation process will be presented.
