Currently, our country is among the main producers and exporters of fishmeal and fish oil in the world. Unfortunately, the fishing industry is also at the top when it comes to marine environmental pollution. Among the pollution produced, the discharge of anchovy landing effluents stands out; this is one of the main reasons why these effluents need to be treated and receive treatment prior to their discharge into the sea. In the company where we will do the thesis study, there is modern equipment to treat these effluents and allow them to comply with established pollution parameters. Nevertheless, in the first season of 2021, the efficiency of the DAF cells in the physical stage of effluents treatment at the Chancay plant obtained a result (44.28%) below the expected level according to the theoretical efficiency of the equipment (from 50% to 60%). For this reason, the company is looking for improvement in the DAF cells process with the aim of increasing the amount of recovered fat and converting it into PAMA oil. To achieve this objective. Lean Methodology tools were applied. The whole process was analyzed to determine the significant factors influencing the efficiency of the DAF cells, these factors were: Recirculation Pump Pressure, the percentage of fat entering the DAF cells, the percentage of personnel trained, and the shifts and operating hours. Consequently, 6 improvement actions and a control plan were developed, resulting in an increase of the physical DAF cells efficiency from 44.28% to 49.21% in 2021-2 season, 52.29% in 2022- 1, and 52.37% in 2022-2. This achievement contributed significantly to the company with an economic benefit of $358,064.00. Finally, the success factor of this thesis was the management role, the support and the willingness to change by the collaborators involved in the project.
