Self-efficacy is the perception that people have about their abilities to perform a given situation. The general objective of this research was to construct a self- efficacy scale in adult oncology patients of a public hospital of Piura, 2023. The methodology was applied, with an instrumental design and a sample of 257 patients from a public hospital in Piura; the instrument used was the self-efficacy scale in adult oncology patients (EMAPO-A) made up of 21 items. As results regarding content validity, values higher than 0.90 were obtained; regarding construct validity, a KMO of 0.865 was obtained, as well as its goodness of fit indices with an RMSEA of 0.067, SRMR of 0.028, TLI of 0.904 and a CFI of 0.948; Regarding total reliability, it contains 0.802 through Cronbach's alpha coefficient, the values of the dimensions range from 0.819 to 0.879. As for the percentile norms, three categories are established: High, Medium and Low, where an adequate reliability and validity in the considered population is demonstrated. It is concluded that the construction of this instrument is valid and reliable to measure perceived self-efficacy in adult cancer patients, which is useful for the clinical psychologist to perform a better psychological evaluation of the variable self-efficacy, so it is important to continue conducting further research
