The objective of this study was to identify the factors associated with semen quality. For this purpose, 20 boars from two pig farms in the province of Viru in the city of Viru, La Libertad region, were evaluated over a period of three weeks. Healthy animals of any breed and age were included; animals unfit for breeding were excluded. Results showed that boars from OVI farm were significantly younger (p- value=0.0285) than pigs from San José farm (15.60 ±6.19 months and 21.60 ±3.10 months, respectively). The San José farm had a higher number of breeding stock with meat aptitude and more crossbred boars than the OVI farm. The San José farm showed higher environmental temperature than the OVI farm; however, there was only statistical difference (p<0.05) between the farms evaluated in week 2 (OVI: 27.99 ±0.80 and San José: 28.78 ±0.79). Regarding relative humidity (RH), the RH of the OVI farm ranged from 54.40 to 56.69 %, and the RH of the San José farm ranged from 54.30 to 56.50%; however, there was no significant difference (p>0.05) between farms or between the weeks evaluated on each farm. Regarding seminal quality, the OVI farm obtained higher values for ejaculate volume, sperm concentration, number of seminal doses, vitality and motility than the San José farm; although there was no statistical difference between farms (p>0.05). However, age was only negatively correlated with sperm vitality on both farms (OVI and San José) and motility on the OVI farm. We concluded that there was no significant difference between the semen quality of boars from the OVI farm and the semen quality of boars from the San Jose farm. Age was negatively correlated with sperm vitality and sperm motility. Environmental temperature correlated with sperm concentration and number of seminal doses of boars from the San Jose farm. Relative humidity was not correlated with semen quality
