The present work was carried out on the Huamachuco-Yanasara highway, Huamachuco District, Sánchez Carrión. The purpose of this research is to determine the Structural design of pavement calculated using the AASTHO methodology in order to improve trafficability, in the area due to being a main route of interaction in the Sierra Liberteña. In the thesis, the structure of the flexible pavement was determined, taking as reference the specifications indicated in the Highway Manual: Soils Geology, Geotechnics, Pavements; National Building Regulations: Standard CE.010, Urban Pavements and Standard GH.020 Urban Design Components. In addition, for the design of the storm drainage, the specifications indicated in the Manual of hydrology, hydraulics and drainage of the Ministry of Transport and Communications have been taken as a reference. As a first step, we carried out the study of traffic in the project area in order to determine the vehicular load, in addition, the topographic study was carried out to establish the characteristics in the planimetry of the study area. The soil study was carried out which will allow us to determine the characteristics, stratigraphic profile of the soil where the project will be carried out and in this way to be able to determine the CBR, the structural design of a rigid or flexible pavement having as reference the AASHTO 93 methodology. Based on the traffic study, an ESSAL of 1,080,332.12 was obtained for the flexible pavement and with the soil study it was determined that the project area has a poorly graded sand soil with gravel and a CBR of 19.6%. Taking into account the aforementioned results, the final result has been obtained that the flexible pavement design will have an asphalt layer of 6.00 cm, a base of 20.00 cm and a sub-base of 15.00 cm. Finally, a hydrological study of the area will be carried out, based on the data on maximum rainfall in 24 hours determined by Senamhi, and that with this will allow determining that the maximum rainfall is 66.91 mm, the concentration time is 42 min and the intensity of rain of 39.86 mm/h. In addition, using hydrological calculations, hydraulic calculations can be made that allow us to determine the characteristics that the longitudinal drainage of the road will have, which in the case of the project, it was determinad that there will be a triangular ditch that will have the following dimensions : width of 1.20 m and height of 0.30 m.
