--- This research addresses the issue of teacher performance and the influence it has on student learning, university General Studies at the University of San Martín de Porres. The research design was descriptive correlational nonexperimental basis and cross section, we present the main features of performance and the relationship between it and the students' learning of the USMP General Studies in 2012 This study was conducted at the headquarters of Santa Anita, City University with a population of 3.330 students of General Studies, for both the quantitative study was made of simple random sampling. For the sample size used conventional parameters (error = 5%, confidence = 95%, N = 3330, heterogeneity pq = 50%) and was estimated at 345 students, with a confidence level of 95%. Instrument was used, prepared by Mr. Cesar Palomino Francisco Zamudio, which allowed to measure teacher performance. Likert scale used six response alternatives and 23 items. This scale measures teacher performance from the perspective of students, and assesses four dimensions: a) teaching strategies, b) Teaching materials, c) educational capabilities d) Responsibility for carrying out their job functions. As a result it was found that there is a relationship between teacher performance and student learning in General Studies at the USMP. That is the more optimal is the largest teacher performance is the learning of students. Within the teacher's performance of “teaching strategies“ are the ones that impact the “learning of students“ and the correlation is positive and moderate (rs = 0.507, P = 0.008) which implies that the higher the educational strategy of the higher educational student's academic performance which will be reflected in the grades in their theoretical and practical assessments. Keywords: Performance teaching, student learning, teaching strategies.
