--- The procedural invalidity is that state of abnormality of the proceeding, originating from the lack of some of its constituent elements or existing defects on them, potentitally puts tem in the position of being judicially declared invalid. This research aims to determine the causes of the nullity of procedural acts in civil proceedings of knowledge in the Judicial District of Lima: 2007-2008. The study was conducted under the hypothetical deductive method. The research was basic, descriptive level. The population consisted by all civil proceedings brought in the path of knowledge process admitted during the period between 2007 and 2008. The sampling was non probabilistic, with sample of 100 civil proceedings brought in the way of supported process knowledge in the Judicial District of lima –Alzamora Valdez Headquarters. The information obtained in the fildwork was processed considering: type of matter, process step that litigant party invoking year record, outcome of the appeal, time resolution, articles of CPC relied on resources is invoked founded. The research provides empirical evidence that the main causes of the nullity of procedural acts are cognitive origin, it is ignorance of matters of nullity of procedural acts by the court, but not in the normative aspect because the judge as director of process will find that the process meets the intended purpose, since in our procedural law procedural rules are mandatory unless otherwise regulatin character.
