--- This thesis is based on “Efficient multiplierless architecture for frame synchronization in DVB&S2 standard” (Boutillon et al.), and “Start of frame detection pilotless optimization by single summation method on DVB&S2” (Vilca et al.) papers, they both refer to optimization, combining the Start of Frame (SOF) header information plus Physical Layer Signaling (PLS) code information with two thresholds (SOFT1 + PLST2) and one threshold ((SOF + PLS)T) pilotless estimation respectively. The study of both papers allowed to develop an algorithm with a new start of frame detection method, called “GLOBAL SUMMATION“, this method also combines PLS and SOF information pilotless with a single threshold denoted as (SOF + PLS (Global ))T. This new method has better performance gain in terms of receiver operating characteristics with less Probability of Missed Detection (PMD) about 8 % compared with the Single Summation method ((SOF + PLS)T) and 18 % compared with the SOFT1 + PLST2 method, both with a Probability of False Alarm (PFA) to 10&6. Consequently, architectures with low complexity was developed through quantification and evaluation of finite precisión for future work in VHDL and FPGA implementation. Finally, in general the performance of the new method was evaluated through Frame Error Rate (FER) simulation, which showed a robust frame synchronization. Keywords: Robust frame synchronization, Start of frame detection, Global summation.
