-- Frequently, we are informed by the media many complaints of the users of the Health Social Security (ESSALUD) for the attention received. Long wait for external consultation appointments, surgical interventions postponed due to deficiency of medical operation turns in operating rooms, inability to hospitalize patients because of high percentage of occupied beds which in some services exceed 100%, deficit of drugs, obsolete biomedical equipments inadequate to satisfy the demand of auxiliary examinations, etc.; are some of the major these concerns for being the cause of bad image of the institution ending up in legal actions with elevated cost. Paediatric attention doesn’t escape this problem because we don’t know the real demand of these services and the capacity to supply them properly. This situation encourage me to do this work which purpose is to calculate the progressive crescent demand for paediatric health services supplied for a IV level and high complexity resolution hospital of the Health Social Insurance and its relationship with the service production, in order to establish the breach between demand and supply and its causes, through this diagnosis make suggestions will allow to improve the health attention of the children refered from other health centres of minor complexity level. I conclude that there is underused of installed capacity in areas of major institutional image, a bad measure of the demand of the health centres of the Health Net and an inappropriate scale of resolution capacity, producing crowds in the Paediatric Services of the hospital with pathologies that could be solved in low levels of attention.
