The present study evaluated in vitro superficial microhardness two restorative materials nanofiller resin (Z350XT 3M) and a rear composite (3M P60). Fifteen cylinders were prepared 4mm 2mm diameter and height of each of the materials under study. The surface microhardness was measured in Vickers (vk) and it was used for the Vickers microhardness test, using a microhardness tester having a diamond identador, applying a load of 100 g for 15 seconds. To determine whether there was a statistically significant variance between measurements of microhardness of the materials tested, we used the Student t-test and to make a comparison between the variations of the two materials, we used the ANOVA test. The P60 resin had higher average surface microhardness that Z350.The conclusion is there was significant difference between the surface microhardness of the two materials evaluated.
