The purpose of this research was to conduct an epidemiological study, retrospective and descriptive of the type and frequency of permanent canines, including in patients 13 to 17 years who attended the service Buco Maxillofacial Surgery and dental treatment and to present panoramic radiographs, cephalometric and / or periapical National Institute of Child Health, during the years 2005 to 2010. Histories were analyzed of which 2687 were sampled and radiographs of 36 cases with adequate sharpness, density, contrast and definition, using medical records to support this assessment was performed by a single person who is the author of this research, after calibration by the consultant. Prevalence over the population was 1.3%. The largest percentage by up to 13 years old (50%), followed by patients 14 years (27.8%). According to the male sex predominates with 61.1%, and female sex is a lower percentage. Class I had the most cases (44%), followed by Class III with 25% in Classes VI and VII there were no cases. In this study there were only upper canines included. Of all the inclusions were found in 55% palatal, buccal, 36%, 9% transalveolar. The bilateral presence of inclusions is 19.4%, although most cases are unilateral canines; unilateral right with left-sided 47.2% with 33.3%. The inclusion level was the most frequent deep with 77.8% and the rest was moderate depth, no canines were superficial. Deciduous canines were presented in more than half of patients (52.8%), followed by 30.6% of patients persists in the right side, the 8.3% continues on the left side, the 8.3% continues on both sides.
