Effectiveness of Newcastle disease virus-La Sota strain (NDV-LS) attenuated vaccine as treatment for bovine Papillomatosis was evaluated in this study. 34 crossbreed dairy cattle with cutaneous papillomatosis clinically diagnosed and semi-extensively managed in farms of Alto Mayo (San Martín Region) were studied. Animals were subcutaneously inoculated with 2ml of NDV-LS attenuated vaccine (109 egg infective dose50) on day 0 and day 7 and were clinically evaluated days 0, 7, 30, 45, 60. 30 animals were employed as controls. Papillomas clinical details were recorded: number, shape and picture. No secondary signs were observed in treated animals during the study. Clinical evaluation at day 60 showed that treatment was effective in 3 (8.8%) animals. Chi-square test showed that there wasn’t statistically significant difference between control and treated group. In conclusion, the Newcastle disease virus-La Sota strain attenuated vaccine was not effective in treatment and control of bovine papillomatosis in semiextensively managed animals from Alto Mayo zone.
