--- Nowadays the implementation of a proper breastfeeding in the population is declining; this is because of modernism and the globalized world in which women live today. An experimental study, which aims to demonstrate the positive influence of breastfeeding on the cranio-maxillary growth in newborn guinea pigs is presented below. The population is composed of 40 newborn guinea pigs of the same species, age and sex, which were randomized into 2 groups: Group I: Control group, 20 guinea pigs served as controls, which were normally breastfed. GROUP II: Experimental group, 20 guinea pigs, which were separated from their mothers avoiding breastfeeding. After 21 days the guinea pigs were sacrificed with ether and then decapitated. Direct measurements on skulls and cephalometric tracings were performed. These measurements were analyzed with the T Student test. As results of the study were obtained significant differences in comparisons of means of all variables in the control group and the experimental group (Co - A, Co-Id, Co - A - Go IMPA, AIA - AO, BAMMS - BAIS, BAMMI - BAII, Overjet, Overbite), so we can conclude by this study that breastfeeding influences positively in the cranio - maxillary growth in newborn guinea pigs. KEYWORDS: Breastfeeding, cranio - maxillary growth, guinea pigs.
