--- The arthropods found in corpses during in a criminal investigation can be used as forensic tools because it would be possible to estimate the post-mortem Interval (PMI), to determine if a body has been moved from a certain place or to offer information about where the death has happened. The present work aims to analyze aspects of the ecology and entomological succession of populations of insects in pig carcasses (Sus scrofa L.) in decomposition that are wearing clothes or not; and that are exposed to a natural environment. In the experience wearing clothes was a factor that affected the process of decomposition, the species richness and the relative abundance of every species in both carcasses. In both pig carcasses present the four ecological categories (necrophagous, predators, omnivorous and adventive). The artropofauna found during the process of decomposition in both carcasses was composed of Diptera, Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Hemiptera, Lepidotera, Araneae and Scorpiones, being Diptera the predominant order followed by Coleoptera. The family Calliphoridae (Diptera) was present in both pig carcasses during all the phases of the decomposition and the family Dermestidae (Coleoptera) was present since the phase of active putrefaction to the last phase of decomposition, being regarded as carrion-eating families with major forensic interest. Lucilia sericata was the most predominant species and its favorite places of oviposicion are natural orifices. Other families of forensic interest are: Piophilidae, Sarcophagidae, Fanniidae, Dermestidae, Histeridae and Cleridae.
