--- Introduction: Poor nutritional status has adverse effects on the learning process. In the departments of Peru with highest malnutrition rates, the highest rates of illiteracy, is observed. Methodology: The research is observational, analytical, prospective and transversal. A sample of 128 preschool children was studied to relate the variables the chi-square test was used, with a significance of 5%. Results: The 82.8% of preschool children had an outstanding academic performance and 17.2% performance in the process, was also observed that normal weight (77.3%) and overweight (22.7%) was more frequent in students with performance academic in process; no relationship between body mass index and academic performance was found. The recommended intake of vitamin B6 (p = 0.019), recommended Iodine (<0.001), and recommended protein (p = 0.033) were significantly related to outstanding academic performance. The age of 3 to 4 years (59.1%) and male (77.3%) sex was more common in children with academic performance in the process. The products most consumed in children with outstanding performance were milk (83%), bread (64.2%), chicken (49.1%), cereal (42.5%) potato (41.5%), egg (34.9%), and banana (32.1%). Conclusions: The recommended vitamin B6, iodine and protein intake is significantly related to academic performance among preschool children attending the “Cuna Jardín Carmen Alto – Comas” 2015.
