--- The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not differences cephalometric maxillary level (sagittal plane ) between patients with sequel of Unilateral Cleft Lip Alveolus Palate (UCLAP) and patients with sequel of Bilateral Cleft Lip Alveolus Palate (BCLAP) . A descriptive, comparative, retrospective and transversal study in a group of patients with UCLAP sequel (n = 80 ) , a group of patients with BCLAP sequel (n = 50 ) and a group of patients noncleft (n = 58) Records of patients aged from 8 to17 years old that came to the National Institute of Child Health ( Perú) , in the period comprise between 2000-2012. Cephalometric radiographs of patients with characteristics attributed by the investigating team were studied. For data collection was continued to perform cephalometric tracing the criteria established by Steiner, Downs, Ricketts and USP projection and the following indicators were measured : The angles SNA , jaw depth, SNB,SND, Facial, ANB and Projection USP . Descriptive analysis of the indicators of maxillo -mandibular assessment study groups (UCLAP and BCLAP ) and control was performed ( noncleft ), were organized in tables and graphs by mean and desviation standart . The skeletal relationship USP Projection indicator was performed using frequency distribution tables with their respective bar graphs. For the inferential analysis first we apply the test of normality (Shapiro -Wilk or Kolmogorov Smirnov),then the Levene test was used to verify homogeneity of variance for the comparison of their means was performed using the Student t test or Mann- Whitney U as normal, when compared three half was applied Kruskal –Wallis or ANOVA tests. All tests were worked at a significance level of 5 %. When compared groups patients UCLAP sequel with noncleft the data showed significant difference (p < 0.05) for maxillary , mandibular and intermaxillary evaluation , although it was highly significant ( p < 0.001 ) for indicators SNA , jaw and Projection USP. When compared groups patients BCLAP sequel with noncleft the data showed there are significant difference in the means of the evaluations maxilla and jaw ( sagital plane), these were higher in the group noncleft (p < 0.05) in the case of evaluation intermaxilar in both groups no statistically significant differences (p > 0.05 ). According to the results it is concluded that there are no statistically significant differences between the maxillary cephalometric assessments of groups UCLAP and BCLAP (p > 0.05). Keywords: maxillary cephalometric evaluation , Unilateral Cleft Lip Alveolus Palate (UCLAP) and Bilateral Cleft Lip Alveolus Palate (BCLAP).
