The aim of this study was to determine the moment of infection with Mycoplasma hyopneoumoniae in 240 piglets of vaccinated and unvaccinated sows, in a positive one site swine farm with all-in/all-out (AIAO) system, located in Chillon valley. The study had been performed in autumn and winter. One group of sows was vaccinated with 2 ml of M. hyopneumoniae commercial bacterin, at 85 days of the gestation period, while the rest of sows remain unvaccinated. Two groups of 120 piglets were formed according to the sows’ status of immunity. Blood samples from the two groups of pigs in different moments of the production period were obtained. The antibodies with an indirect assay of commercial ELISA were measured. The 66.67% (74/112) and 85.59% (101/118) of the pigs from vaccinated and unvaccinated sows, respectively, were seroreactive throughout the course of the study. There were no significant differences in the moment of seroconversion between the two groups. The results suggested that the moment of infection in both groups had occurred at the same time, at nearly 10 weeks of age. This age coincided with stress factors, such as change of environment and the animals being crowded during the relocation from nursery to growth-finishing period.
