--- The present study had as its objectives, to determine the medicinal plants of higher demand and the traditional use in the Ayacucho city, to estimate the cultural value and economic value of the plants commercialized. It developed Inside the frame epistomológic of design transverse descript, exploratory, not experimental and longitudinal; having used the method qualitative and quantitative and realized surveys semi estructured Recorded 66 medicinal species, including in 30 families and 60 genera. The higher specific richness’s families were: Asteraceae (19), Lamiaceae (9) and Fabaceae (5). The species most in demand are Ruda hembra (Ruta chalepensis L.), Ruda macho (Ruta graveolens L.), Orqo muña (Satureja brevicalyx Epling), Manzanilla (Chamomilla recutita (L.) Rauschert), Huerta itana (Urtica urens L.) y Qera (Lupinus paniculatos Desr.), with 3420, 3410, 3090, 3030, 3030 y 3000 “bound” per month, respectively. The total extraction volume of green matter of the 66 medicinal species that are traded is 13633.575 Kg/month and with a valuation of S/.34132.71. The traditional use of the medicinal plants regards to the treatment of: sensorial system (hearing and vision), nervous, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, and genito-urinary disorders; endocrine glands, blood, skin and subcutaneous cell tisue, and osteo-muscular system illnesses; and other afections like “Mal de viento, aire, o Wayra”, and spiritual therapies.The higher cultural value reported species: Ruda macho, Ruda hembra, Hinojo (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.), Qera, Malva morada (Lavatera arborea L.) y Romero (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) with 0.48, 0.48, 0.33, 0.31, 0.29 y 0.24, respectively; while that the higher economic value species: Orqo muña, Manayupa (Desmodium molliculum (Kunth.) DC.), Ruda hembra, Qera, Qarwancho (Argemone mexicana L.) y Ruda macho; with 1.77, 1.73, 1.64, 1.46, 1.39 y 1.31, respectively. The marketing of medicinal plants in Ayacucho city for use in traditional medicine has great demand with an important cultural and economic value and with a concern impact extractive and socio-economic impact.
