A study was made in Experimental Station of IVITA-Marangani, of Vet Medicine Faculty of the University of San Marcos, located in Marangani, Canchis, city of Cusco with the aim to evaluate hip’s area and thigh`s volumen of the young animals and the size of the mamarian gland as possible indicators for early selection of llamas for yield meat. For this we used a flock of eighty two llama`s mother with their respective young animals, evaluated the development of hip´s area and thigh`s volumen to 2, 8 and 15 months to age and the correlation degree of this measurements with body weight and chest cincunference used Pearson correlation and analysis of variance, of SAS and in the mothers evaluated maternal skill through of the relation between size of mamaria gland and weaning weight of the young animal. Size of hip was expressed as a geometric figure and it area was determined with AUTOCAD software and size of thigh`s volumen was expressed as a volume of a shortened cone. Outcome obtein suggest that hip’s area and thigh`s volumen, could be used to early selection of young animals for keep a high and significative correlation with body weight (0.93; 0.91) and chest cincunference (0.93; 0.84). Correlation between size of mamarian gland and weaning body weight of young animal was half to low, except relation between distance of fore nipples and weaning body weight (0.46), while when we separated by set of size large and small, we found a relation half and positive only in udder of middle size, suggesting a genetic effect. We concluded that due at the growth and body development is usually evaluated only through the changed of the body weight, which include skin, bowls, muscle mass and bone; we can use for value body score with more accurate to hip area and thigh volumen used as reference points because they keep high relation with body weihgt and chest cincunference through the time.
