Objective. To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of health professionals against delivery care upright in the National Maternal Perinatal Institute in 2013. Design: Descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional quantitative study. Institution: Institute National Materno Perinatal. Participants: Obstetricians, Obstetrics and Gynecology Medical residents specialty Gynecology. Interventions: 180 professionals who were willing to participate in the study, a questionnaire developed and validated pre knowledge about and attitudes about delivery care was applied vertically. For statistical analysis, Excel, SPSS V.21 program was used for analysis by nonparametric chi square test statistical tests. Main outcome measures: level of knowledge and attitudes toward childbirth care vertical. Results: In terms of knowledge delivery upright group of professionals who had a medium level of knowledge was 93.4 %, the group of professionals with a low level of knowledge was 3.9% and the group of professionals with high knowledge level was 2.7%; attitude that professionals surveyed on delivery care upright was that 70 % of them have an attitude of indifference, 15.6 % have a negative attitude and 14.4 % have a positive attitude. Conclusions: There is a relationship between the average level of knowledge (93.4 %) (p = 0.000 < 0.05 and attitude of indifference (70 %) by the respondents against delivery care vertical.
