--- The purpose of this thesis is to assess the degree of development of logical concepts in student of the fifth year of secondary education in Perú. A sample of 150 pupils from the José Antonio Encinas educational institution, Santa Anita district, Lima, was used for this purpose. This thesis is original research presented in order to obtain the qualification of Doctor of Education. Throughout this research the 'Clinical Critic' method was applied based on Piaget's Genetic Epistemology; The afore-mentioned diagnostic method, initially proposed for children, has been adapted for adolescents and was applied to a sample of 150 students who were carefully selected from a population of 10 groups from which 2 were chosen i.e. the experimental group under study and the control group. These two groups each consisted of 75 young people taken from 15 regions within the country with the aim of developing in a meaningful manner the logical thought processes and its subsequent analysis. The results achieved from the application of the standardized Longeot test showed initially, on a scale of 1 to 20, an average of 8.15 for the group under study and 8.18 for the control group. Following the study the outcomes test showed an average of 14.02 for the experimental group and 9.65 for the control group. The results obtained by means of a recognized statistical technique (the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for one sample and Pearson's Correlational Coefficient in a piece of work with an experimental design of 2 [experimental and control] groups) contrasted with the general hypothesis, in the sense that the teaching method used increased the development of logical thought in students belonging to the sample group of 15 - 19-year olds. Keywords: Critical Clinical Method, Genetic Epistemology, Formal Thought, Thought Hypothetical Deductive.
