-- The aim of this investigation was to determine the effectiveness in vitro antibacterial essential oil of Minthostachys mollis Griseb “Muña“ both quantitatively and qualitatively by agar diffusion method with hard, against three strains of bacteria prevalent chronic periapical pathogenesis: Fusobacterium nucleatum ATCC 25586, Prevotella melaninogénica ATCC 25845, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212 and root canal samples with chronic apical periodontitis. Essential oil was obtained from total active dry leaves, damping off and flowers of the plant by water vapor drag. Subsequently, the oil was diluted in ethyl alcohol at 70 º in concentrations of 25% and 50%. These dilutions, along with pure dilution were compared with camphorated paramonochlorophenol as positive control and ethyl alcohol 70 °, as negative control. In conducting in vitro susceptibility testing yielded the following results: Minthostachys mollis essential oil “muña“ pure and their dilutions presented antibacterial effectiveness both quantitatively and qualitatively greater than ethyl alcohol 70° and less than off camphorated paramonochlorophenol against samples study bacterial
