-- The taxonomical and histological study of six species of the genus Erythrina L. was conducted at the montane forest of the departments of Huánuco, Junín, Pasco and Ucayali; it was elaborated a taxonomical determination key of species based on the vegetative characters of foliar elements, and another based on the morphological characters of flowers and fruits. The histological study was conducted on leaves, petioles and terminal branches; E. ulei has hypostomatic leaves with anisocytic stomata, the other five are anphistomatic leaves (E. Crista-galli, E. edulis and E. berteroana have cyclocytic stomata; E. fusca and E. poepigiana have anomocytic stomata; E. berteroana have anisocytic stomata; E. edulis paracytic stomata). The six species have multi-celled capitate hairs with a greater concentration on the reverse of, they also have papillae with the exceptions of E. ulei and E. poeppigiana. the leaf. In the anatomical study of the petiole it was counted of number of vascular bundles in the siphonostele, which have same structure to those of the stem; for this last one, it was analysed in great detail in the cross section, type and distribution of the vessels (pores), kinds of parenchyma, based on which, the taxonomical determination keys were developed. In the longitudinal section the articulated laticiferi were noted in the cortical zone, in the xylem it was observed elements of vessel with helicoidal, scalariform and reticulated thickenings, both opposite and alternating, with inclined perforated plates. All the species have great economic importance to man.
