--- Stress is a process that occurs when environmental demands exceed the adaptive capacity of an organism. This can lead to biological and physiological changes, which in turn may cause physical problems. All are exposed to stress, being an affected group of college students, because this group is made a change, the transition from school to university life. It is important the development of a promotional program aimed at preventive stress management and development of psychoemotional skills that make the student to maintain their physical, mental health during college preparation. vIn this research study “Effectiveness of a relaxation program“ First is my inner peace “in reducing levels of stress in nursing students of public University in Lima, 2015“ aimed to determine the effectiveness of the program in reducing stress levels of nursing students. It is a quantitative study, application level, quasi-experimental method with two groups. The population consisted of 40 students with a sample of 22 nursing students from the Faculty of Medicine UNMSM divided into two groups of 11. The technique used was the survey and the instrument was modified Likert scale. The conclusions were that the students participating in the experimental group decreased their stress levels medium and high medium and low, whereas the control group maintained their stress levels before and after in levels medium and high.
