--- Aphylogenetic analysis of two species of Batrachophrynus and eight of Telmatobius is performed using bucopharingeal larval characters. Asodes barrioi and Caudiverbera caudiverbera are included in the ingroup, and the outgroup is made up of Leptodactylus sp. And Bufo limensis. A strict consensus tree shows one clade formed by Batrachophrynus and Telmatobius with 100% and 2 bootstrap and decay values, respectively. This clade shows T. marmoratus as basal to the other species of Batrachophrynus and Telmatobius. The two species of Batrachophrynus do not constitute a monophyletic group, B. brachydactylus being more related to t. carrillae than B. macrostomus. Phylogenetic and biogeographical hypotheses for Batrachophrynus and Telmatobius are contrasted to those proposedfor other Telmatobiinae. Batrachophrynand Telmatobius are synomnynized
