Inadequate postures in the dentistry work could cause ocupational disorders. These disorders could range from mil symptoms to the dentists’ inhability to do their work, being in danger not only their health but also their professional performing. The dentist’s work postures may influence his general health status, causing injuries if he works in inadequate postures. The postural overcharge of the dentistry work could decrease the performing, because the discomfort, and in a wide space of time, produce illnes in the musculoskeletal system. That’s why it’s an interest point in the ergonomic analysis. Today, the occupational risks affecting worker of every career have become in an international concern topic. The dentistry personnel is a high risk group for the HWO in the Ocupational Health Bulletin in 1995. assuming that the performing of dentistry in inadequate postures will cause occupational problems, the functional disability of the dentist will affect the activity of the dental services and will decrease his work quality. The target of this investigation is to determine if the inadequate work postures adopted by the dentist would produce affections or pain symptoms, postural problems related to the professional work. The sample was 59 dentists from the Dental Deparment of the Hospital Militar Central (Lima-Perú). It was found a relation between the time of dentistry work and the postural problems, and between the use of inadequate work postures and the occupational affections.
