--- In the present investigation the general objective the development of autonomous learning after applying learning strategies and cognitive education by students problemic in the eighth cycle Magisterial Education specializing Mathematics - Physics Monterrico National Pedagogical Institute. The hypothesis formulated is: The application of learning strategies and cognitive by teaching problem in the course of Physics IV achieves better independent learning in students of VIII cycle Magisterial Training Specialty of Mathematics and Physics, Monterrico National Pedagogical Institute. The population consisted of all students in the eighth cycle of all specialties Monterrico National Pedagogical Institute was making a total of 123, which was sampled 21 students; 10 specialty Mathematics - Physics (experimental group) and 11 of Natural Sciences (control group), as both groups took the course in Physics IV as a course in common. Both groups applied a test input and output test at two different times. A Likert scale was also applied for information about the intrinsic, essential motivation for the acquisition of autonomous learning. It is a quantitative research, applied, quasi-experimental and longitudinal design. The results indicate that the means obtained by the control and experimental groups entrance test are very similar; where the calculated t = 2, 083 is less than the theoretical t = 2, 093. The mean scores of the experimental and control groups in output test are 35, 55 and 111.4 respectively; obtaining a calculated 67.72 compared to a theoretical 2.093 t of t. Testing input and output applied to the experimental group show that the means are 39.1 and 111.4 respectively, demonstrating 25.46 t calculated compared to a theoretical 2.101 t. These data indicate that the experimental group managed to acquire independent learning while the control group did not get it. In conclusion, the implementation of strategies and cognitive learning through teaching problem have increased the autonomous learning of the experimental group (students of mathematics - Physics).
